Exercising regularly is important for both your physical and mental health. Studies show that you do not need to practice rigorous activities to reap the rewards of exercising on your body. Brisk walks, weightlifting, and even gardening provide your body with benefits.
The brain benefits include,
- The release of dopamine and endorphins (these chemicals produce positive feelings in the body)
- Promotion of neuroplasticity (the brains way of developing new neural connections)
- Improved cognition
- Reduced depression
- Reduced anxiety
The best exercise for brain health include aerobic exercises and strength training because they help pump more blood to the brain.

Life is amazing, so I am all in!!!
Although exercising has so many amazing benefits many individuals do not incorporate it into their daily lives. Work, family life, and other interest require a lot of energy so exercise may not be the first thing on our mind. Others may have the time but do not know where to start or lack motivation.
Whatever the reason may be for not exercising regularly in my journey I have found that every time I fell off my workout routine it was because I did not make it a priority. What has helped make it a priority in my life has been to keep in mind what will be the consequences of not working out.
Not exercising may cause,
- Earlier death
- Risk of heart disease
- Weight gain
- Negative feelings
- Reduced neuroplasticity
- Increased blood pressure
When being healthy is the goal, it becomes natural to incorporate exercise into your daily lifestyle.
Ways to incorporate exercise into your daily life:
- Go hiking
- Find free workout videos or apps
- Taking the stairs
- Swimming
- Bike riding
- Walking
- Dancing (my favorite)
- Yoga
- Play a sport with friends or family
